Mary Alice (Herbert) Bookman

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Alice Bookman will be conducted at 2:00 PM at Friday, January 24, 2020 at Hannah AME Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Bookman was born on August 22, 1941 in Prosperity, South Carolina to the late Allen Frank Herbert and the late Virginia Hare Herbert. She entered into eternal rest on Sunday, January 19, 2020 at NHC Health Care in Clinton, South Carolina.

She was a member of Hannah AME Church where she was the President of the Senior Choir, President of the Missionary Society and the Pulpit Aide.  She was also a member of the Women's Home Aide Society #59.  She was a laundry attendant at American Suites Hotel.

Mrs. Bookman was predeceased by her brothers, Virnelson Herbert, Allen Adam Herbert and her sister, Azalee Herbert.

She leaves to cherish her daughters, Patsy A. Bookman of Portland, Oregon and Deborah Ruff(Bobby) of Newberry, SC; her sons, John Bookman of Little Mountain, SC, Corey Bookman(Melissa) of Newberry, SC, and Thomas Dorley of Little Mountain, SC; grandson reared in the home, Christopher Bookman of Newberry, SC; two sisters, Betty Lyles (Kenneth)of Pomaria, SC and Thelma Herbert of Lexington, SC; six brothers, James Frank Herbert and John Earl Herbert(Debra), both of Prosperity, SC, Mike Ray Herbert, Raymond Kenny Herbert(Linda), Paul Herbert (Beverly) and Calvin Herbert all of Newberry, SC; nine grandchildren, Tykiria Bookman, D'Angleo Bookman, Ja'Baria Cromer, Kedrick Davis, Alexis Bookman, Ja' Markus Bookman, Tequilla Hare(Frank), Chayla Williams (Andre) and Kerry Workman(Karla); four great grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
