Marlene (Young) Downing

Funeral services for Ms. Marlene Young Downing, age 54, will be conducted on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 1:00 PM at Gethsemane Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Ms. Downing passed away on Wednesday, June 8, 2016 at White Oak Manor.  Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Grace Rivers Young and the late Heck Young, Jr.  Ms. Downing attended God's House of Worship in Columbia, SC.  She attended John Bartram High School in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.  Ms. Downing was employed with Kraft Foods.

Ms. Downing was predeceased by a son, Keith Young.

Surviving are her husband, Michael Downing of Newberry, SC; son, Imani Ali of Newberry, SC; daughters, Anzonia Ali and Shanta Downing both of St. Petersburg, FL; brothers, Heck (Linda) Young, III and Tyrone Young (Renea) both of Newberry, SC; Keith Young of St. Petersburg, FL; sister, Tanya Young Thorpe (Winston) of Irmo, SC; three aunts, Jerri Rivers of St. Petersburg, FL, Pat Jackson of Phila.PA, Elaine Butler of Jacksonville, FL; uncles, John Rivers of St. Petersburg, FL, Bill Jackson of Phila, PA; grandchildren, Waquim Filsaime, Zadija Filsaime, Hasan Joiner, Quadriyyaa Filsaime and Anija Butler; nieces, Iceonia Sukontamat of Irmo, SC; Shaneka Young Adebiyi of Miami, FL; nephews, Rashad Young of Phila., PA; Trayvon Young of Newberry, SC; a host of loving cousins and caring friends.
