Joe P. Maybin, Sr.

Mr. Joe Maybin, Sr., age 85, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at Lexington Medical Center.

Born in Newberry, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Eugene Maybin and the late Carrie Mae Wilson Maybin.  He attended St. James AME Church and the Public Schools of Newberry County.  He was the owner of Maybin Logging.

Mr. Maybin was predeceased by one sister, Ellen Singleton; seven brothers, Willie, Freddie, Robert, Tommie Lee, Baby Ray, J. P and Andrew Maybin.

Surviving are his wife, Donna Carter Maybin of the home; sons, Joe Maybin, Jr. (Midge) of Irmo, SC; Ronald Maybin (Debbie) of Lexington, SC; Ben Maybin of Irmo, SC; sisters, Julia Mae Nelson and Magnolia Maybin; brother, James Maybin all of Newberry, SC; five grandchildren, Joe (Tre') Maybin, III (Latisha), Roni Maybin Peeples (Lucius), LaTasha Etheredge (Brandon), Kenneth Marshall (Karisha) and Shauna Thomasson (Travis); seven great-grandchildren, four sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Newberry Memorial Gardens.  All in attendance are asked to wear a mask or face covering and to practice social distancing.
