Grace (Rivers) Young

Funeral services for Mrs. Grace Rivers Young, age 83, will be conducted on Saturday, February 22, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Pratt Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Young departed this earthly life on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at her home.  Born in Philadelphia, PA, she was the daughter of the late Robert Rivers and the late Elizabeth Sephes.

Mrs. Young was a Seventh Day Adventist. She attended Bartram High School in Philadelphia, PA and continued her education for Nursing.  She worked for Misacordial Hospital in Philadelphia, PA.  She met and married Heck Young, Jr. and along with their five children moved back to Newberry, SC to raise their family.  Mrs. Young worked at J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home for many years.

Mrs. Young was predeceased by her husband, Heck Young, Jr.; daughter, Marlene Downing; grandchild, Keith Young and her twin brother, John Rivers.

Surviving are three sons, Heck Young, III (Linda), Tyrone Young (Renee) both of Newberry, SC; Keith Young; daughter, Tanya Thorpe (Winston) both of Blair, SC; grandchildren, Rashed Young, Pharoah Imani Ali, Anzonia Ali, Shanta Downing, Shuneka Adebiyi (Jimi), Trayvon Young and Iceonia Sukontamat; sister, Patricia Williams of Philadelphia, PA; two sisters-in-law, Jereline Rivers and Elaine Butler; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
