George Frank Fowler, Sr.

Funeral services for Mr. George Frank Fowler, Sr., age 97, will be conducted on Tuesday, October 6, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Mt. Olive AME Church, Kinards, SC.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Fowler passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at his home.  Born in Newberry County, he was the son of the late Wil Fowler and the late Vinie Rutherford Fowler.  He was a member of Mt. Olive AME Church where he served as a Steward, Treasurer, Usher and former custodian.  He was a World War II Army veteran and a member of VFW Post #5932 and was a 2015 inductee into the Laurens County Veterans Hall of Heroes.  He was also a member of the Sons of Aid Lodge and a retiree of Greenwood Mills.  He attended Newberry County Schools.

Surviving are daughters, Sharon F. Mabry of Charlotte, NC; Felita F. Small of Goose Creek, SC; Betty A. Sims of Newberry, SC; sons, Sherman D. Fowler of Laurens, SC; George F. Fowler, Jr. of Vancouver, WA; sister, Pauline Fowler; brother, James O. Fowler both of Newberry, SC; eighteen grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
