Calvin Sims

Mr. Calvin Sims passed away on Friday, May 8, 2020 at Prisma Health Richland in Columbia, South Carolina.

He was born in Newberry County on August 22, 1955, to the late Blanch Sims.  He attended Newberry County Public Schools. He worked as a dispatcher .

Mr. Sims was active in recreational activities in the community by  refereeing basketball and umpiring baseball games. He enjoyed videoing weddings and birthday celebrations.  Mr. Sims hosted the annual Back-to-School event in Wise Street Park for 38 years providing school supplies, games and a big cook-out.

Surviving are cousins, Barbara Henderson Rikard and Alma Burton Sullivan; dear friends, Ronnie Hunter, Carmen Lindsay Mincy and Frankie Young; a host of friends who will miss him dearly.
