Brenda Joyce Rogers

Brenda Joyce Rogers, age 67, peacefully passed over in her home on Thursday, April 23, 2015 after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born on August 26, 1947 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Jiles Washington and the late Gladys Marshall Washington both formerly of Newberry, SC.

Brenda was retired from Newberry County Voter Registration and Elections, where she served as Director for nearly ten years.

A woman of exceptional skill and talent, Brenda was well-versed in several languages; an accomplished artist, singer, actress and a masterful baker and chef.  Her love and laughter will be missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Bill Rogers; son, Donovan Herring (Jennifer); brothers, Joseph Washington (Gwen) and Bryant Washington; grandchildren, Kaya and Oliver Herring; aunt, Mildred Mangum; uncle, Zack Washington and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family wishes to express its gratitude to Newberry Oncology, the staff of Newberry County Memorial Hospital, and Angel Care Home Care aides, Connie Williams and Geraldine Thomas.
