Betty Jean Sligh

Ms. Betty Jean Sligh passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2021 at her home.

She was born in Newberry, South Carolina on December 21, 1950 to the late Jesse Caughman and the late Susie A. Sligh Gallman.  She was reared by her step-father, Willie Gallman, Sr.

Ms. Sligh was predeceased by a brother, Willie Louis Gallman, aunts, Mae Frances Sligh, Willie Mae Sligh Glasgow and Magnolia Sligh; uncles, John Thomas Sligh and Alvin Caughman and sister-in-law, Janice Dean Gallman.

Surviving are he daughters, Sallie Sligh and Nancy Sligh (Freddie); son, James Sligh (Marsha); sisters, Linda Kinard, Emma Eigner (Eddie) and Lois S. Williams; brothers, Robert Gallman (Dixie), Eugene Gallman, John Wilie Sligh (Mary) and Willie Lee Sligh (Linda); four grandchildren, Lashana Sligh, Trevor Sligh, Jamel Sligh (Tawanda) and Alexis Edwards; five great-grandchildren, Tyon Sligh, Albrieona Wicker, La'Terrea Wicker, Te'Asia Sligh and Ethan Sligh; sister-in-law, Althea Gallman; friends, Richard Mitchell and Mary Rice, a number of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be conducted on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Werts Cemetery.  All in attendance are asked to wear a mask or face covering and to practice social distancing.  Viewing will be on Saturday, March 20, 2021 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Fred B. Memorial Chapel.
