James Edwin Chaplin

Funeral services for Mr. James Chaplin, age 80 ,  affectionately known by family and friends as(Chat), will be conducted on Saturday, May 18, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church with  burial to follow at Calvary Baptist Church cemetery in Newberry, SC.

Mr. Chaplin passed away on May 14, 2019 at Prisma Health Richland Memorial in Columbia, SC. Born in Newberry County,  he was the son of the late Wesley Chaplin and the late Daisy Mae Chaplin .

Mr. Chaplin was the owner of Chaplin Logging and the All Stars Baseball Team. He was a member Calvary Baptist Church.

Chat was predeceased by his daughter, Brenda Cole Johnson.

Surviving are his devoted wife, Catherine Young Chaplin of the home; daughters, Tracy Epps-Eigner of Newberry, SC, Jamesina Chaplin-Ruff (Chris)of Newberry, SC, Trina Chaplin Wright(Kevin) of Irmo, SC, Corinthian Chaplin of Newberry, SC; Sons,  Rodney Chaplin (Treena) of Newberry, SC, Anthony Caldwell(Ann) of Newberry, SC and Terry Chaplin (Tiffany) of Prosperity, SC; Step-Daughter, Tosha Trapp-Williams (Demetric) of Newberry, SC; sisters, Essie Savoy of Chapin, SC, Emily Marie Brooks, Barbara Brooks and Virginia Johnson(Eugene) all of Newberry, SC; brother, Wesley Chaplin of Newberry, SC; 2 sisters-in-law, 2 brothers-in-law; 30 grandchildren; 40 great grandchildren and best friends, Bo Hunter and Marshall Caldwell and a host of other family members and friends.
