Christina Dorothy (Golden) Suber

Funeral services for Mrs. Christina G. Suber, age 93, will be conducted on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Miller Chapel AME Church.  Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Suber passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018.  Mrs. Christina  Dorothy Golden Suber was born on September 4, 1924 in Newberry, South Carolina. She is the daughter of the late John and Bessie Anderson Golden.  She graduated from Drayton Street High School and holds a Bachelor's degree from South Carolina State University, in Home Economics and Elementary Education.

Christina married Henry Lee Suber also of Newberry in 1951.  They resided in Newark, New Jersey. Mrs. Suber worked for several year at Westinghouse,  the Newark Public Schools and retired as a Home Economics teacher from the Paterson School System. In 1985, she and her husband returned to their hometown of Newberry, South Carolina. Mrs. Suber was a member of Miller Chapel AME Church and Meridian Chapter #274 of Order of Eastern Star.

Her husband died in 1995 and Christina continued to live in Newberry until 2008.  At that time she moved to Willingboro, New Jersey to live with her daughter, Michelle Baynes.

Surviving are two daughters: Sharon L. Suber and Michelle S. Baynes both  of Willingboro, NJ; one son George A. Suber of Waldorf, MD; one daughter-in-law Melony Y. Suber of Waldorf, MD; five grandchildren: Ramel I. Baynes, Ayanna S. Baynes, Geoffrey K. Suber, JaVaughn H. Suber and Ajanee I. Suber; two great grandchildren: Annaya M. Baynes and Christian M. Baynes; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
