Mr. Willie Ray Cannon, Sr. was born in Pomaria, South Carolina to the late John Cannon and the late Beatrice Wicker Cannon. He entered into Eternal Rest on Thursday, September 15, 2022 in his home.
Mr. Cannon was a dedicated member of Mt. Hebron A. M. E. Church where he was a Sunday School teacher, Steward Emeritus, Choir leader, Father of the Church and a member of the Sons of Allen. He was also a member of the Sons of Aid Lodge #48 and Meridian Lodge #9 . Mr. Cannon was the Owner and Operator of Cannon Concrete Finisher. Mr. Cannon was a Dallas Cowboys fan.
Mr. Cannon was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Mae Singley Cannon, daughter, Linda Marie Cannon; brothers, Homer Steed Cannon, John Bunyon Cannon, Eddie Cannon, Bobby Cannon, Ulysses Cannon and Henry Lee Cannon.
Cherishing his memory are his children, Ethel Davis of Newberry, SC; Mary Cannon of the home and Willie R. Cannon, Jr. of Newbery, SC; grandchildren, Andy Davis of Tampa, FL and Joshua Davis of Newberry, SC; great-grandchildren, Anna Belle Davis of Tampa, FL and Gavin Davis of Newberry, SC; sister, Ella Holley (Louis) of Little Mountain, SC; brother, Tommy Cannon (Faye) of Columbia, SC; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Cannon of Pomaria, SC, Ernestine Nicholson, Bernice Singley and Linda Watson all of Baltimore, MD; Bessie Bookman and Barbara Cannon both of Newberry, SC; Mattie Bookman and Judy Bookman both of Prosperity, SC; brother-in-law, Richard Bookman, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, September 20, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Mt. Hebron A. M. E. Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Monday, September 19, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel.
