Ms. Mildred Marie Young was born on March 3, 1958 in Winnsboro, South Carolina to the late Donald Young and the late Annie Ruth Shelton Young. She passed away on Sunday, November 21, 2021 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Ms. Young was an active member of Weeping Mary Baptist Church in Blair, SC where she was Head of the Kitchen Committee, Vice President of the Usher Board, a member of the Pastor's Aide, a Trustee, Advisor of Christian Education and Youth Advisor. She was also a member of Blair Coalition of Churches and Eastern Star #244 (Silver Hill) She was a graduate of McCorey Liston High School and she attended Voorhees College.
Ms. Young loved to bake, cook, dance and listen to music and play softball. She also enjoyed taking care of her grandchildren and serving God and her church. She loved to always lend a helping hand and spend time with her family.
Ms. Young was predeceased by a sister, Renee Young, three brothers, James Tillman Shelton, Donald Shelton and Curtis Young and also a brother-in-law James Bates.
She is survived by her devoted companion, Terry McFall, son, Duran Robinson (Brandis), daughter, Tyeisha Robinson (Khalil Sheppard) all of Newberry, SC; sisters, Willie Ruth Bates of Rock Hill, SC, Linda Stevenson (Willie) and Cassandra Wright (Daniel) all of Blair, SC, Neda Epps (Corey) of Irmo, SC; Willie Mae Coleman of Newberry, SC; brothers, Boisy Lee Shelton (Fannie) of Maybinton, SC, Sylvester Young (Julia) of Winston-Salem, NC and Julian Shelton (Peggy) of Newberry, SC, grandchildren, Ashton, Mason and Kacie, a number of aunts and uncles, mother-in-law, Nettie Gallman, devoted cousin Laura Cockel devoted niece, Valerie Henderson, a numerous nieces, nephews, a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, November 27, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Weeping Mary Baptist Church (church parking lot) with burial in the church cemetery. Viewing will be on Friday, November 26, 2021 at Pratt Funeral Home Chapel from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. All in attendance are asked to wear a mask or face covering and to practice social distancing.
