Loretta (Jones) Bates

Mrs. Loretta Jones Bates, age 72, of Newberry, South Carolina, passed away on Friday, March 29, 2024. She was born on March 1, 1952 in Newberry, South Carolina to the late R. C. Jones and the late Osceola Wideman Jones.

Mrs. Bates was a dedicated servant of Jehovah and found joy in sharing messages of hope with others. She was baptized in Cincinnati, Ohio in 1978.  She cherished spending time with her family and friends, loved baking, and watching sporting events. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Mrs. Bates was predeceased by her brother, William Wideman, father-in-law, Perry Bates, Sr., mother-in-law, Claudia Lee Bates, brothers-in-law, Walter Williams, James Bates, Sr. and Perry Bates, Jr., sister-in-law, Shirley Bates.

Mrs. Bates is survived by her loving husband, David Earl Bates, and her children, Stephon Bates (Marian), Tarquiann Bates (Traci), Tarsha Smith (Corey), Trokya Bates, Tammuran Bates, Rain Bates, Shandrea Williams Epps (Elbert), Deterrical Davenport (Jerome), Debarros Clamp and Johnnie Coleman. She is also survived by her siblings Glendora Williams, Ophelia Moses (David), Dorthea Curry (Phillip), Jerry Jones (Veronica), Annette Thomas (Gregory), and Cornelia Tribble (Charles), sisters-in-law, Lourine Bates, Irene Bates Caldwell and Angie Palmer, brother-in-law, Tony Bates (Joyce), as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.  Burial will follow at Newberry Memorial Gardens. 

Visitation will be held at F.B. Pratt and Son Funeral Home in Newberry, South Carolina on Tuesday, April 2, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
