Mr. Goldberg "Boogie Bear" Gray was born in Pomaria, South Carolina to the late David Gray, Sr. and the late Nellie Rae Gladney Gray. He entered into Eternal Rest on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at Lexington Medical Center.
Mr. Gray was a member of New Vision Ministries. He served as a Deacon on the Deacon Board. He was a member of the New Vision Male choir. He was also a member of the Sons of Aide. Mr. Gray was a graduate of Gallman High School. He was a former employee with the City of Newberry and the Newberry Housing Authority.
Mr. Gray enjoyed spending time with his family. He enjoyed fishing and was a devoted Atlanta Braves fan. He showed compassion to everyone he met.
Mr. Gray was predeceased by a daughter, Annette Shealy; brothers, David Gray, Jr., Charles Gray and Baby Gray; sister, Christine Boyd.
Mr. Gray is survived by his daughter, Patricia Johnson (Sean, Sr.); grandchildren, Sean Johnson, Jr. (Daphne) and Rasheda Johnson Smith (Preston); brother, Plato Gray (Narvis); brother-in-law, Taff Boyd; devoted niece, Audrey Eigner; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins who loved him dearly.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2024 at 12:00 pm at New Vision Ministries. Burial will follow in St. James AME Church cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Friday, April 26, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel.
