Freddie Lee Edwards

Mr. Freddie Lee Edwards was born July 25, 1951 in Pomaria, South Carolina to the late Alonzo Edwards and the late Mamie Houseal Edwards.  He passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2022 at his home.

Mr. Edwards was an active member of Celebration Outreach Ministry where he served as a Deacon.  He believed in getting things done on time.  He attended Newberry County Public Schools.  Mr. Edwards was employed with the Department of Transportation for 40 years and with Newberry County for nine years.  He was the owner of the Newberry Explorer ball team.

He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Gallmon Edwards; daughters, Rebecca Johnson (Mark) of Clinton, SC; Sandra Wallace-Bey (Craig) of Silverstreet, SC; niece, Chrystal Edwards raised as a daughter and granddaughter Breaunna Wallace raised in the home both of Newberry, SC; sons, Timothy Hill and Detavia Hill both of Clinton, SC; Andrew Edwards of Newberry, SC; Daniel Lewis (Teresa) of Iva, SC and Jamie Wallace (Jaronda) of Shelby, NC; sisters, Virena Gallmon (Richard), Willie Mae Suber, Shirley Wise and Ann Edwards all of Newberry, SC; one aunt, Mrs. Willie Houseal; God son, Henry Green, God daughter, Cleo Dawdy; close friend, Thomas Flemon, sixteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, three brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday,  July 30, 2022 at 2:00 PM at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel.  A private family viewing will be on Friday, July 29, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel.  A mask or face covering is required to enter the funeral home.
