Charles L. Boyd, Sr.

Charles L. Boyd, Sr., age 84, of McDonough, GA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 16, 2024. He was born on  July 31, 1939 in Little Mountain, South Carolina to the late Bennie Boyd, Sr. and the late Berbenia Boyd.

Mr. Boyd was employed as a truck driver with Local Union #522 until his retirement. He will be remembered for his hard work, kindness, and love for his family.  Mr. Boyd was a faithful believer of God and family.

He was predeceased by sons Ricky B. Glasgow and Charles A. Boyd, grandson Nicholas E. Gallman, sister Vivian Eargle and brother Bennie Boyd, Jr.

Mr. Boyd is survived by his beloved wife, Juanita Glasgow Boyd, his children Linda (Larry) Williams, Katherine (Steve) Thomas, Carolyn Boyd, Roxanne Boyd, and Vicky (Duane) Campbell; grandson reared in the home, Samad T. Boyd.  He is also survived by his sisters, Evelyn Caughman and Rosa (Thurmond) Mitchell, brother, John Alfred (Vanessa) Boyd, Sr., as well as 16 grandchildren, twenty-seven great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, sister-in-law, Elvie Crawford and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him. May he rest in peace.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 29, 2024 at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel, where loved ones can gather to celebrate his life and legacy. Public viewing will be on Thursday, March 28, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel.  The family will receive friends at 1410 Clarkson Avenue, Newberry, South Carolina.
