Brenda (Whitney) Curry

Ms. Brenda Whitney Curry was born February 20, 1954 in Newberry, South Carolina to the late Joe Eddie Wicker the late Ollie L. Whitney.  She entered  on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.  She was formerly married to Jimmy Curry of Pomaria, SC.

Ms. Curry was employed by Louis Rich until a car accident caused her to be disabled.  She was a resident of Nance Forest Apartments for over 40 years where she was loved by all of the residents.  Even though she was wheelchair bound for over 40 years, she lived a very independent life.  She took care of herself in a way many without a disability could.  Her disability did not stop her living life to the fullest.  She was always the life of the party and always had a big smile on her face.

In addition to her parents, Ms. Curry was preceded in death by a loving grandmother, Mrs. Ella Whitney and a sister, Cynthia Whitney.

Cherishing her memory are four devoted sisters, Patricia Whitney and Donna Hicks (Frank) of Pomaria, SC, Lorraine Wicker of Newberry, SC and Tammy Hall (Johnnie) of Chapin, SC; four brothers, Russell Whitney (Precious) of Lexington, SC, Rickey Whitney (Anita) of Chapin, SC, John David Livingston and Keith Livingston (Shantel) of Greenville, SC; two uncles, Roy Whitney (Marjorie) of Greenville, SC and William Whitney (Margaret) of Pomaria, SC; one precious aunt, Dollie Martain (Roosevelt) of Columbia, SC; brothers-in-law, Julius Robinson, Willie Robinson (Deborah) of Pomaria, SC; sister-in-law, Christine (Lewis) Robinson of Pomaria, SC; devoted friend, Ms. Willene Walker; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.

Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, December 31, 2021 at 1:00 pm at St. Mark AME Church.  All in attendance are asked to wear a mask or face covering and to practice social distancing.  Viewing will be on Thursday, December 30, 2021 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel.
