Willie Rogers

Mr. Willie Rogers, age 63, passed away on Friday, May 14, 2021 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital.

He was born in Whitmire, South Carolina, to Mildred Hopp Rogers and the late James Lyles Rogers.  He was a former employee of J. P. Stevens and Oakland Mills.  He was currently employed with Georgia Pacific.

Mr. Rogers was predeceased by one sister, Tammy Rogers and two brothers, Jesse J. Rogers and John Henry Rogers, mother-in-law, Dorothy E. Watts and father-in-law, Raymond W. Watts.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Essie Mae Watts Rogers, daughters, Amanda Rogers of Newberry, SC, Nicole Samuel of Blair, SC and Jessica  Rogers of Newberry, SC; son, Willie L. Rogers of Newberry, SC; step-son, Forrest P. Gallman; sisters, Dale R. Mobley of Union, SC, Rose Anna R. Rice of Whitmire, SC; brother, Wayne Rogers; four grandchildren, Jahn'ta Neal of Newberry, SC; Kierra Rogers and Destiny Cannon of Blair, SC; Prince Rogers of Newberry, SC; great-grandchild, Giavonnie Neal of Newberry, SC; six aunts, three uncles; son-in-law, Robert Samuel of Blairs, SC; daughter-in-law, Kendra Gray of Newberry, SC; sisters-in-law, Sara Toland (Joseph) of Columbia, SC, Mary Louise Watts of Newberry, SC, Shirley Wilson of Clinton, SC; brothers-in-law, Raymond Wilson of Newberry, SC; Bill Watts of Greenwood, SC, Timmy Rice of Whitmire, SC, Lester Mobley of Union, SC, Charles Wilson; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A graveside service will be conducted on Friday, May 21, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Newberry Memorial Gardens.  All in attendance are asked to wear a mask or face covering and to practice social distancing. Public viewing will be on Thursday, May 20, 2021 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel.
