Willie Lenzo Mayers

May 7, 1939 ~ December 27, 2020 (age 81) 81 Years Old

Willie Lenzo Mayers, the son of the late Alfred Mayers and the late Mary McFall Mayers was born on May 07, 1939, in Lexington County, South Carolina. He departed from this life on December 27, 2020 and entered into Eternal Rest to be with family that have passed on.

He received his education in Richland County School System. He did construction work for many years in South Carolina and he moved to Baltimore, Maryland in 1963 where he continued his construction profession and became a certified heavy equipment operator. He worked for Bob Burnett construction company and Urban Zink construction company for a total of 50 years.

His favorite pastime was going to the Casino. He loved going to Delaware Park in Delaware and Cherokee Casino in North Carolina with his children.

In 1978, he met and married the love of his life Carolyn A. Price Mayers Willie aka (Mr. Willie, Pop, Smack, and Pop Pop) was a devoted husband, son, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. There wasn’t a time that he wouldn’t help out anybody in need.

Willie leaves to mourn his loving wife of Forty-two years Carolyn Mayers, four sons, Cornell Caughman, Charlie Caughman of Chapin, SC, Wayne Caughman of Columbia, SC, Michael (Cheryl) Bates of Irmo, SC, three daughters, Eva Caughman of Columbia, SC, Robin Carter of Parkville, MD, Ora Powers Baltimore, MD, four brothers, David Mayers of Baltimore, MD, Alvin (Olivia) Mayers, Ervin (Betty) Mayers of Columbia, SC, Jacob Mayers of Chapin SC, two sisters, Bessie (Samuel) Dew of Irmo, SC, Shirley (Anthony) Williams of Chapin, SC. Twelve grandchildren, Dwayne, James, Joe, David, Tyler, Samantha, Rubin of SC, Sherique, Javon, Eric, Zyon, Rodney of MD, one aunt Elizabeth (Carl) Rodgers of Columbia, SC, eighteen great grandchildren and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Providence AME Church.  All in attendance are asked to wear a mask or face covering and to practice social distancing.
