Willie Bates Obituary
Mr. Willie Gerald Bates, age 55, passed away on Friday, September 10, 2021 at his home.
He was born in Newberry, South Carolina to Jasper Bates and the late Annie Ruth Hawkins Bates. He was a memer of Providence A. M. E. Church. He was a graduate of Mid-Carolina High School and a veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by his father, Jasper Bates, Sr. of Chapin, SC; wife, Tracy Bates of Lexington, SC; daughter Keyuana Bates of Lexington, SC; sisters, Marianne Eleazer and Kathy Holman of Little Mountain, SC; brothers, Pelvis Bates of Irmo, SC, Jasper Bates, Jr. of Prosperity, SC, Calvin Bates of Columbia, SC, Willis Bates of Irmo, SC and Johnny Ray Hawkins of Prosperity, SC; companion Deborah Miller for assisting in his care, five aunts, three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law and other relatives and friends.
A graveside service will be conducted on Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Newberry Memorial Gardens. All in attendance are asked to wear a mask or face covering and to practice social distancing. Viewing will be on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel.
