Mr. Wesley Jackson, at the age of 70, was in the comfort of his home with his loving wife of 40 years, by his side, when he entered a peaceful rest on December 28, 2022. Mr. Jackson was born to the late Mr. Wesley Wilson and the late Shirley Mae Jackson of Silver Springs, MD.
Mr. Jackson was a faithful member of the West End SDA Church in Atlanta, GA where he was a member of the Usher’s Board and Men’s Ministry. He also attended Bible Teaching SDA Church in Columbia, SC.
Mr. Jackson was born at Freedman Hospital in Washington, DC and attended Blair High School in Silver Springs, MD. Mr. Jackson was the first black fireman working at the Tacoma Park Fire Dept. where he served for six years. He worked in the Lexington County District 5 school system, and he retired from the National Institute of Health, in Bethesda, MD, where he worked for 18 years. Mr. Jackson was also an entrepreneur who owned several businesses.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by his mother Ms. Shirley Mae Jackson and his father Mr. Wesley Wilson.
He leaves to cherish his precious memories his beloved wife, Mrs. Cheryl Chapman Jackson of Columbia, SC; one son, Brian Jackson of Hyattsville, MD; ten sisters, Jacqueline Jackson-Robinson of District Heights, MD, JoAnn Chapman of Odenton, MD, Frances Jackson of Bowie, MD, Pamela Jackson of Riverdale, MD, Gloria Jackson of Silver Springs, MD, and Wanda Ferrell(Levelle) of Frederick, MD, Leslie Wilson, Lynn Cowart, Lisa Wilson, Lashawne Wilson all of Upper Marlboro, MD; two sisters-in-laws, Audrey Chapman Hunter-Bullock(Al) and Monica Chapman(Kevin) both of Norcross, GA; six aunts, two uncles, a special brother/sister in Christ, Danny & Lurlean Robinson of Atlanta, GA, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will miss him dearly.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 1:30 PM at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel. Viewing will be on Friday, January 6, 2023 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel.
