Tara Maxine (Jones) Blocker

Funeral services for Mrs. Tara Maxine Blocker will be conducted on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 4:00 PM at Gethsemane Baptist Church in Blair, SC with burial to follow at Fellowship Baptist Church cemetery in Pomaria, SC.

Mrs. Blocker passed away on May 15, 2019 at Park Ridge Health Hospital in Columbia, SC.  Born in Newberry County, she was the daughter of Mr. James Raymond Jones, Sr. and the late Tearusia Chaplin Jones.

Mrs. Blocker earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at Winthrop University and a Master of Education degree at Cambridge College.  She was employed with Fairfield County School District for many years as a fourth grade teacher.  She was a National Board Certified Teacher. She was a former member of the Fellowship Baptist Church Gospel choir and instrumental in starting the Education Ministry.

Mrs. Blocker was predeceased by her mother, Tearusia Chaplin Jones and a sister, Sharesa Crystale Jones.

Surviving are her husband, Travis V. Blocker; sons, Tremayne V. Blocker, Terrell M. Blocker and Tyrese V. Blocker, all of Columbia, SC; brothers, James R. Jones, Jr.(Sandra) and Steven R. Jones(Teresa), both of Pomaria, SC; mother-in-law, Mae Frances Blocker of Columbia, SC; father-in-law, Johnnie A. Blocker of Columbia, SC; 2 sisters-in-law and a host of nieces and nephews.
