Susie (Dreher) Mayers

Mrs. Susie Dreher Mayers, age 86, entered into the arms of Jesus on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital.

Born is Chapin SC, she was the daughter of the late John Henry Dreher and the late Emily Bowers Dreher.   Her husband, Deacon Lonnie Mayers and her son, Lonnie V. Mayers preceded her to heaven.  She was the last of six siblings.

She was a faithful and devoted member of ProvidenceAME Church where she served as as “Mother of the Church,” Steward Emeritus, Past Gospel Choir President, Past Stewardess Board President, Past Usherboard President and Past Assistant Church Secretary.

Mother Mayers enjoyed cooking, sewing, fishing, and spending time with family.

Those who celebrate her life and cherish precious and loving memories are one son, Jeffery L. Mayers of Columbia, SC; one daughter, C. Patricia Smith (James) of Chapin, SC; 10 Grandchildren, Rodney Mayers (Susan), Ricky Mayers (Shawn) Demetris Murray (Kenneth), Brian Eargle, Talmadge Geiger (Felicia) Desmond Spann, Brittany Mayers, Charlotte Mayers, Brandon Mayers, and Michael J. Boyd; 17 Great-Grands and 11 Great-Great Grands; One daughter-in-law, Twanda Mayers of McDonough GA; one brother-in-law Charles Mayers of Chapin, SC; one sister-in-law Lillian Dreher of Newark, NJ.

A devoted and caring cousin Elbert Dreher (Myrlian) who was like a brother.

She will be sadly missed by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Providence AME Church cemetery.  All in attendance please wear a mask or face covering and practice social distancing. Public viewing Wednesday, September 16, 2020 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
