Richard Earl Sanders

Mr. Richard Earl Sanders Sr was born in Newberry County on April 16, 1944 to the late John Henry and Louise Suber Sanders. On Wednesday, July 1, 2020, God summoned him home.Richard married and moved to Bridgeport, CT where he raised a family. He was employed as a shipping clerk at Orange Coat Factory, and a truck driver for Fairfield Sanitation, and United Van Line. In 1993 he returned to Newberry where he lived the remainder of his life.

He was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for a number of years; served as Chairman of the Board Trustee and a member of the Men’s Choir. He joined the Masonic in Connecticut, and continued his membership with Josha Lodge, Chapter #970.

Richard was predeceased by his first wife, Helen L. Sanders; a daughter, Glendora D. Sanders; a sister, Maudie D. Cooper, two brothers, William C. and David Lee Sanders, a nephew, Tony Sanders, and a sister-n-law, Geraldine Sanders.

He leaves to cherish his memories, a wife, Mrs. Cynthia Sanders; a daughter, Mrs. Mattie Scott, a son-n-law, Ray Scott of Dale City, VA; a son, Richard E Sanders, Jr, a daughter-n-law, Khalil Sanders. One brother, John Edward Sanders of Washington, DC; one aunt, Mrs. Minnie Suber of Newberry, SC. Thirteen grandchildren, thirteen great-grands, four nieces, one nephew. A devoted niece, Anita of the home, and a devoted friend, Brenda... to cherish his memories.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, July 7, 2020 at Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery. The family request those in attendance to wear a mask or face covering and practice social distancing.
