Pearlie Henderson Obituary

Pearlie Mae Henderson was born October 7, 1950 in Newberry to the late Fred and Pauline Henderson.  She departed this life on December 24, 2023. Pearlie accepted Christ at the early age of 12 and joined Fairview Baptist Church.  Pearlie attended Newberry County Schools and earned her diploma from Gallman High School in 1968.

After high school, Pearlie was employed by several businesses in Newberry and later went to work at Kraft Foods (formerly Louis Rich Foods) for 33 years where she retired.

After retiring, Pearlie struggled for many years with sickness but nevertheless managed to sustain an independent lifestyle.  She loved to walk and visit with neighbors and friends. She enjoyed getting outside every day; exercising at the YMCA with the Silver Sneakers group; watching sports- her favorite team was the Golden State Warriors.

She attended Sunday School and Bible Study regularly.  Pearlie truly loved the Lord and her greatest desire was to please Him.  She was a quiet, humble, and discerning person with strong integrity, honesty, and good character.  You could count on her to say exactly what she was thinking and oftentimes her words were witty, wise, direct, and humorous.

As a senior citizen she served on the Senior Choir, was a member of the Ladies Aid Society Lodge#36, a member of the Golden Age Ministry, and participated in the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP).  She enjoyed studying the bible and rarely missed Sunday School, Bible Study, or Church Services.  She had a strong reading habit and was always ready to discuss the bible with anyone.

In the family, Pearlie was known for her delicious “mac and cheese” during family gatherings and holidays.  Pearlie leaves   to cherish her memory; one son, Kevin D. Henderson; three grandchildren – Iesha Henderson, Quaneeshia Henderson, Ikeria Kinard; and eight great- grandchildren:-Jayviyon, Izzmere, Makaio, Paris, Taraji, Aleah, Jaiden, and Kaiden.

Pearlie was blessed to have two brothers and four sisters: Shirley Washington, Fred Henderson Jr. (deceased), Willie Clyde Henderson, Earline Henderson Broaden, Linda A. Henderson and Geneva D. Henderson.  She also had two sisters in law- Gwen Henderson, Betty Henderson, and two brother in laws- David Broaden and Sam Washington (deceased).  A host of nieces and nephews also mourn her passing.

Pearlie’s spiritual gift was Faith.  She was a “Rock” to her family in the face of adversity.
