Naomi T (McMorris) Morris

Mrs. Naomi T. McMorris Morris, age 91, affectionately known as "T", passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home.

Naomi "T" began her life on  June 6, 1929, born to Reverend William McMorris and Fannie Mae Thacker McMorris in Newberry, SC.  Naomi and her husband joined Bethlehem Baptist Church at a young age.  They worked diligently throughout their lives as Sunday School teachers for many years.  Naomi served on the Usher Board, Pulpit Aid Club, Missionary and Senior Choir.

Naomi graduated from Drayton Street High School and attended two years at Friendship College.

On October 18, 1948, "T" married her forever Love  John Phillip Morris, Jr.  To their union three children were born, John, III (deceased), Birdell and Herbert.

Although Naomi spent the last 6 years of her life in J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home she never lost her joy.  Her sense of humor remained hilarious.  The staff gave her the name NANA.  Although she could not remember everyone's name, if you mentioned God she would take you to church.

Left to mourn are her daughter, Birdell Morris-Dennis (James), son, Herbert A. Morris both of Newberry, SC; sister, Essie Perkins of Columbia, SC; two grandchildren, James Kennedy (Nadine) and Frankie Morris; six great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Francis Tribble Morris of Hopkins, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other family member and loving friends.

Private Graveside services will be held.  All in attendance are asked to wear a mask or face covering and to practice social distancing.
