Mary Lizzie Hiller

Mrs. Mary Lizzie Hiller, age 80, passed away on Saturday, May 29, 2021 at J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home.

Ms. Hiller was born in Prosperity, South Carolina to the late B. J. Hiller and the late Emma Dewalt Hiller.  She was a member of Lower Mt. Olive A. M. E. Church where she was a member of the Lower Mt. Olive Gospel Choir and served as an Usher.  She was also a member of Women's Home Aide Society and the Newberry County Gospel Mass Choir.  Ms. Hiller was a former employee with Oakland Mills and Newberry County School District where she worked as a cafeteria worker.  She retired from the Lowman Home after many years of service.

Ms. Hiller was predeceased by a daughter, Karen Hair, son, O. Z. Hair, Jr. and brother, Leo Hiller.  Ms. Hiller loved to cook and bake for her family

Ms. Hiller is survived by a daughter, Retha Hair of Little Mountain, SC; son, Randy Hair of Prosperity, SC; grandson, Dareon Aughtry of Savannah, GA.; sisters, Fennie Hair of Newberry, SC, Margaret (David) Alston and Lorraine Bowers of Prosperity, SC, Betty Wheeler of Columbia, SC and God sister, Matilda Lindler of Prosperity, SC; four aunts, two uncles, devoted caregivers, Marilyn Chaplin, God daughter and Ulesses Simmons, one daughter-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, many other family members and friends.

Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, June 4, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Lower Mt. Olive A. M. E. Church.  All in attendance are asked to wear a mask or face covering and to practice social distancing.  Viewing will be on Thursday, June 3, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel.
