Mark Anthony Glymph was born on April 16, 1974 in Newberry County to Barbara Wheeler and George Wheeler. He entered into eternal rest on Thursday, April 6. He attended Newberry High School and Piedmont Technical College. He was employed with Georgia Pacific.
Mark was his mother’s only child, and his father’s oldest child. Mark was known to his family as “Butterball”. Though this was not his favorite nickname it was his family’s favorite because he was butterball baby, was truly the cutest and most adorable. Mark adored his family and loved all, but his first love was his grandmother, the late Fannie Mae Glymph. He was her oldest grandchild and they shared a special bond. His best friend, he referred as his nephew, was “RJ” Glymph. He also shared a special relationship with his great Aunt, the late Ruth Sims. A few of his favorites were watching boxing, movies, and cheering on favorite team the Miami Hurricanes.
Preceding his death are his maternal grandmother, the late Fannie Mae Glymph and grandfather, Freddie Lee Glymph. Paternal grandparents were James E. and Alice Stephens Wheeler; Great Aunts, Ruth Sims and Estelle Sims Penny, Aunts - Nancy Caldwell, Uncles - John T. Wheeler, James Willie, and Arthur Lee Wheeler.
Family survivors include his mother, Barbara Wheeler, father, George Wheeler, special and devoted Aunt, Brenda Maybin of Newberry, SC; Aunts, Berdie Kelly (Matthew) of Irmo, SC and Betty Wheeler of Columbia, SC and Uncle, Macky (Barbara) Wheeler of Prosperity, SC.
His siblings are Amanda “Monique” Caldwell, Clifton Gallman, Christopher Williams, McKeva Kinsler, Charlene Sims, Marcus Wheeler, and Hannah Wheeler.
Also, left to cherish their childhood memories while growing up are his cousins who were more like his siblings, Robert (Jameka) Glymph, Alisha Glymph-Pitts, Bryant Glymph, Shaneka (William) Green; friend, Fredrick “Van” Robinson, two best friends, Larry Goodson and Manuel Barcelo, other cousins, host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Lastly, Mark leaves behind his beloved Terricka “Dannie” Quiller. Dannie was the love of his life, best friend, soulmate and his rock. The love and bond they shared will continue to last forever.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Newberry Memorial Gardens. Public viewing will be on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel.
