Laura Mae Bookman

Funeral services for Ms. Laura Mae Bookman will be conducted on Friday, December 13, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Pratt Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.

Ms. Bookman passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2019 at her home.  She was born September 15, 1964, in Prosperity, South Carolina. She was the daughter of the late Eugene Bookman and the late Mary Lou Stoudermire Bookman.

She was a long time family babysitter who was loved by all she kept and raised in the home.

Ms. Bookman was predeceased by brothers Gene,  George, James and Malverse Bookman; sisters, Mary Edith Bookman, Mary Frances Swittenburg, Naomie Wise, Rosa Lee Jones, Joann Ruff and Thelma Bookman.

Cherishing her memory are the kids she adopted and raised as her own, Tri-Anthony Pitts, Denzel Byrd, Jahiem Bookman, Alton Jackson, Jr., Amir Hawkins, Dynasty Pitts, Alayla Jackson, Trendon Etheredge, Demarcus Pitts, Jr., Skylar Gallman, Kailyn Gallman, Allesheia Hawkins, Santana Hawkins, Diandra Bookman, Princess Etheredge, Demarcus Pitts, Willie Gallman, Malcolm Davis, and Roderick Byrd all of Prosperity, SC; three brothers, Roy, Albert and Terry Bookman of Prosperity, SC; five sisters, Willie Mae Cromer, Edith Swittenburg and Elizabeth Austin all of Newberry, SC, Mary Deloris, Carol and Georgia Lee Bookman of Prosperity, SC; devoted nieces and nephews, Wendy Bookman, Donna Bookman (caregiver), Georgia D. Bookman, Shelia Bookman, Butler Cromer, Rosa Bookman, Patricia Bookman, J.W. Bookman and Burley Bookman; one aunt, Florence Stoudermire; one uncle, Willie Mack Stoudermire; devoted friends, George Toland, John Earl Williams, Freddie Byrd, Dr. Oscar Lovelace, Stanley and Sandra Sheely, Rita and Larry Cromer, Marco Hair, Renee Parkman, Patsy and John Miller and Sherri Bedenbaugh; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
