Joe Allen Lyles, Jr.

Mr. Joe Allen Lyles Jr., age 69, of Ellenboro, NC passed away at his home on May 9th, 2023.  Born in Columbia, South Carolina to the late Joe Allen Lyles, Sr. and the late Fannie Carolyn Hewitt Lyles on June 1st, 1953.  

Mr. Lyles was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Annette Lyles.

Joe was a man of many skills and loved working with his hands.  He worked in many industries and became an exceptional welder, carpenter, plumber, and electrician, and eventually he found his lifetime career in the trucking industry.  He was a long haul trucker for 20 plus years, and travelled enough miles to go to the moon and back 10x over.

Mr. Lyles retired and spent his days tending to his beloved garden, drawing in pen and ink, whittling and woodworking, cooking from scratch, and spending time with his loving family and precious cats.  He enjoyed every minute of it in his home that he built from the ground up, and considered his land to be his special hideaway from the world.

Mr. Lyles is survived by his children, Joseph Allen Lyles Heider and his fiancee, Casey  Bryan, Christopher Lee Lyles Burton and his wife, Miranda Brooke Burton; siblings,, William Lyles, Robert E. Lyles, Lynnette Brazell and Terri Lyles Willis; grandchildren Ethan Lee Dorn Burton, Davidson Lee Lyles Burton and Haylee Grace Burton; nephews, Ethan Brazell, Eddie Ryan Hayden, Chad Hayden and Barry Norman Lyles.

Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at 12:00 pm at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel.  Burial will follow in the West End Cemetery.  Viewing will be on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel.
