James W. Longshore

Mr. James Walter Longshore, formerly of Giff Street Newberry, South Carolina, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 18, 2021, at The Methodist Oaks in Orangeburg, South Carolina.

Born in Newberry County, he was the son of the late David Longshore, Sr. and Ethel Lee Spearman Longshore. James was educated in the public schools and dedicated many years of his early life as a follower of the Jehovah’s Witnesses.  He worked primarily in manufacturing throughout his life.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by two sisters, Mildred Longshore and Jessie Mae Longshore, and one brother, John Wesley Longshore. He is survived by two children, Karen Thomas and James Aaron Longshore of Carlisle, SC; brothers, David (Thomasina) Longshore, Jr. of Orangeburg, SC and Robert Longshore of Newberry, SC; Sisters, Helen Longshore of Philadelphia, Pa and Catherine (John) Simpson of Orangeburg, SC; a niece reared in the home, Claudia Longshore of Newberry SC; several nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

There will be a graveside service on Friday, July 23, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Newberry Memorial Gardens.  Viewing will be on Thursday, July 22, 2021 from 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM.  All in attendance are required to wear a mask or face covering and to practice social distancing.
