Ira "Gene" Eugene Wilson

Funeral services for Mr. Ira Eugene "Gene" Wilson will be conducted on Sunday, January 5, 2020 at 2:00 PM at St. Matthew AME Zion Church in Whitmire, SC. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Wilson passed away on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Lexington Medical Center in Lexington, SC. Born in Newberry, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Ira Wilson, Jr. and the late Bonnie Ruth Lindsey Wilson.  He was a Trustee and a dedicated member at St. Matthews AME Zion Church.  Mr. Wilson was retired from West Fraizer Lumber Mill and a volunteer fire fighter at Carlisle VFD.

He was pre-deceased by his children, Corey Eugene Wilson and Chantae O'Shea Wilson.

Surviving are his wife, Lana Worthy Wilson; a son, Casey Deon Wilson of the home; sister, Melinda Wicker(Rev. Freddie) of Newberry; brothers, Otis Caldwell, Jr. and Patrick  Wilson, both of Newberry, SC; mother-in-law, Sarah T. Worthy of Whitmire, SC and father-in-law, Rev. Thomas Worthy of Whitmire, SC; grandson, Caron D. Wilson; 4 aunts; 3 uncles; 2 sisters-in-law; 4 brothers-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
