GREGORY NANCE, 68 of Atlanta, GA, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 27, 2020 at Wellstar Medical Center in East Point, Georgia. He was born in Manhattan, N.Y. to Cortez and Ruth Nance on August 21, 1952.
He earned a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration from Benedict College and during this time met and later married his wife, Jo Ann Nance. Gregory was a member of Trinity AME Church in Atlanta, Georgia. He was a member of the mass choir.
A gentle giant, a modern day king, Gregory was a family man. His daughter and grandchildren were the joy of his life. Gregory loved sports and his favorite music was jazz. He and his wife Jo Ann loved to shop in antique stores. He was an avid collector of limited edition clocks, toy sports cars and trains. Gregory was a smooth dresser from head to toe, and loved making new friends and greeting family members. He advanced in his career as a Senior Claims Adjuster and Litigations Claims Manager for companies such as Allstate and AIG.
Gregory is predeceased by his father Cortez Nance, Sr., and two brothers, Rodney Nance and Cortez Nance, Jr.
Gregory is survived by his wife Jo Ann; daughter, Tyesha Boyd; grandchildren, Tyjah Fears and Tyler Boyd; mother, Ruth Nance; sister, Lisa Hardy; nieces, Coryne Hardy and Charisse Hardy; and a nephew, Brent Hardy. He is also survived by five grand nieces, one grand nephew, and a host of cousins, family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Graveside services will be conducted on Saturday, October 3, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Newberry Memorial Gardens. Public viewing will be from 11:00-3:00 PM on Friday, October 2, 2020 in the Pratt Funeral Home Chapel. All in attendance are asked to wear a mask or face covering and to practice social distancing.
