Mrs. Golden Whitener was born May 20, 1937 in Newberry, South Carolina to the late Ples Gilliam and the late Carrie Ruff Hodges. She entered into Eternal Rest on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at her home.
Mrs. Whitener was a devoted member of Trinity A. M. E. Zion Church which she joined at an early age. She served as a Trustee Deaconess and Class Leader. She was also a member of the Women Home Aid Society #33.
Mrs. Whitener was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Whitener, Sr., son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Bennie Mae Whitener, grandson, Dayyon Buam, great-grandson, Donte Harp, God son, Terry Hodges, eight sisters and four brothers.
Cherishing her precious memories are son, Rev. Paul Whitener, Jr. of Maybinton, SC; daughters, Marie Baum and Deborah Feaster of the home; Wanda Barfield of Boiling Spring, SC; seven grandchildren, Tekia, TyJuan, Demika, Shandwon, Terkia, Goldie and Jeremiah; nineteen great-children including Demarcus Feaster who was reared in the home; brother, Chareles (Diane) Williams of Upper Marlboro, MD; sisters, Elizabeth Gilliam, Santuc, SC, Jackie (Robert) Harlan and Billie Watts of Temple Hill, MD; son-in-law, Kenneth Feaster of Chester, SC; daughter-in-law, Linda Whitener of Blair, SC, sister-in-law, Reba Sanders of Charlotte, NC; devoted friend, Yvonne Tucker of Whitmire, SC, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 21, 2022 at 11:00 am at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel. Public viewing will be on Friday, May 20, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm in the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Trinity A. M. E. Zion Church Cemetery. A mask is required to enter the funeral home.
