Mrs. Frances Thompson Elkins affectionately known as "Ms. Lucy", was born December 10, 1939 to the late Lonnie Hodges and the late Alice Thompson. She entered into Eternal Rest on Sunday, October 17, 2021 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.
Mrs. Elkins was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and Women's Home Aid Society #10. She was a retiree of Newberry County Memorial Hospital. She loved serving God, cooking. and gardening. She had a compassionate heart to all that she came in contact with and she welcomed everyone to her home.
Mrs. Elkins was predeceased by two daughters, Shirley J. Thompson and Stella A. Thompson, a grandson, Darvis J. Lindsay; sisters, Annie Laura Kirkland, Bessie M. Wyatt and Susie M. Thompson; brothers, Sampson Thompson. Ernest L. Thompson and Otto Thompson.
Cherishing her memory are daughters, Connie Thompson of Columbia, SC, Ruby (Michael) Davis, Dorothy Elkins and Glenda Elkins; sons, James R. Elkins, Jr. and Curtis Elkins all of Newberry, SC; eighteen grandchildren, Lakesha (Bobby) Thompson, McKindra (Sherman) Caldwell, Makeia Thompson, LaQuanda, Keon and Allison Elkins, TaNekia James, Camesha Davis, Keyonia Maybin, Shunnon (Monica) Glenn, DeAundra and Antoine Elkins, Rashad Maybin, Tyrek Bates, Dectovias (Tonya) Thompson, LaShonda Thompson and Dantoni (Kizzy) Thompson, a host of great-grands devoted family friend also considered a son Wayne Gibson, devoted friend, Veronica Singleton, special friend, Bubba Griffin, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, October 21, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Fellowship Baptist Church. All in attendance are asked to wear a mask and to practice social distancing. Viewing will be on Wednesday, October 20, 2021 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel.
