Ernest Butler II died peacefully on October 22, 2021 at his home in Prosperity SC, after battling many illnesses.
Ernest was born on January 27, 1956 in Columbia, SC to the late Major Earnest Butler and the late Thelma Butler. Ernest was educated in Fayetteville, NC at Reid Ross High school and Fayetteville State University. Upon completion of his education he enlisted in the United States Army and served for several years. After his discharge he served as a policeman for the town of Prosperity and then as a sheriff’s deputy for Newberry County until he fell ill in 1989.
Besides his parents he was predeceased by both sets of grandparents, his beloved Aunt Lillian Dennis, and several uncles.
Left to cherish his memories are his devoted wife Maria, sons Earnest of Irmo, SC, Devon, Jonathan(Jordan), Christopher (Madison) and seven beloved grandchildren Jarin, Camryn, London, Peyton, Chance, Kelton and Abigail. two aunts, Annabell Butler and Regina Harris, a devoted cousin, Debra Counts and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends
Ernest enjoyed watching all sports and watching his family grow.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday October 30, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Newberry Memorial Gardens. All in attendance are asked to wear a mask or face covering and to practice social distancing. Viewing will be on Friday, October 29, 2021 at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
