Ella Rose (Bowers) Suber

Ella Rose Bowers Suber affectionately known as “Bay” was born January 19,1939, to the late Nathaniel & Earline Harper Bowers in Chapin, SC. She departed this life on Saturday, June 26, 2021 at home surrounded by family.

Accepting Jesus Christ at an early age, she was a devoted Christian woman at Providence A.M.E. Church.  As a member of Providence A.M.E. Church she enthusiastically served on the Steward Board, a Class Leader, former Senior Choir President, former Missionary President, former Usher Board President and Stewardess Board #2. She was also a member of Woman Home Aid Society #97 and former member of Eastern Star Rock of Ages #294.

She was educated in the public schools of Newberry County, graduating from Gallman High in 1958.  She was employed at BC Components for 31 years and after retirement she pursued her dream and became a substitute teacher for Lex/Rich School District 5. 

A great granddaughter, Skylan Ruff preceded her to Heaven.

Those who celebrate her life and share loving memories include her husband of 51 years, Mr. Calvin Suber, her children, Gregory (Nina) Bowers, Elvis Meggett, Erica Rhett; siblings, Gwendolyn Suber, Harold Bowers, and Cleveland (Lisa) Bowers; nine grandchildren including three reared in the home, Gregory (Kelli) Bowers, Felecia (Douglas) Bowers, Genene (Courtney) Morton; other grandchildren, Lisa Houseal, Frederick Houseal, Cecilia (Anthony) Gallman, Luvenia Bowers, Joshua Curry, and Shanikwha Wicker, great-grand children raised in the home including Tariq Bowers, Marcellus Bowers, Marquand Bowers, Fabian Ruff III, Rahjon Ruff and Camdyn Morton along with a host of other great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, two brothers-in-law, Steve Suber and Marvin (Patricia) Suber; three sisters-in-law, Romell (Hercules) Brailey, Eveleen Suber, Shirley Bowers, and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 1, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Chapin, SC.  Burial will follow at Providence A. M. E. Church.  All in attendance are required to wear a mask or face covering and to practice social distancing.  Viewing will be on Wednesday, June 30, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel.
