Elijah Ernest Chapman was born August 5, 2003 in Killeen, TX to SFC James V. Chapman and Kim (Duarte) Chapman. He passed away on December 27, 2021 in Irmo, SC.
He was a member of St. Mark AME Church. He was a 2021 graduate of Dutch Fork High School and had just completed the small engine repair certificate from Midlands Technical College. He was a former member of Dutch Fork Silver Fox Football and Wrestling Team. He enjoyed cooking, lawn care, car shows, riding motorcycles and hanging with his friends and family.
Those left to cherish his memories are his parents, James and Kim Chapman, sisters, Celeste (Imani) Duarte (John Paul Jones) and Ebony Chapman, brother, Demetris Chapman;paternal grandmother, Ida Marie Chapman, maternal grandmother, Peggy Darden and grandfather(step), Anthony(Tony) Mitchell; aunts, Barbara(Kevin) Summers, Teresa(Pathetty)Wright, Frances( Trenton) Barnett, and Donna Wise; uncles, Eric (Tanisha) Chapman, Keith(Alicia)Chapman Sr., Richard Duarte, Anthony Mitchell Jr., Troy Mitchell, Joseph (Kim)Andrews, and Kevin and James Holly; devoted uncle (grandfather), Clifford Edwards, and host of cousins, and extended family.
Funeral services will be conducted on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Newberry Memorial Gardens. All in attendance are required to wear a mask or face covering and to practice social distancing. Viewing will be on Saturday ONLY, January 1, 2022 at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel from 2:00 pm to 7:00 pm.
