Edrick Jermarcus Cockel

Mr. Edrick Jermacus Cockel, age 30, passed away on January 27, 2021 at Duke Medical Center in Durham, North Carolina.

Mr.  Cockel was born in Newberry, South Carolina on April 3, 1990 to Eddie Cockel and the late Karen Diane Eleazer Cockel.   He was a member of Little River Baptist Church.  He was a graduate of Newberry High School and Greenville Technical College.  Mr. Cockel was a veteran of the United States Army where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrisom Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon and the Combat Life Saver.

Surviving are his father, Eddie James Cockel, step-mother, Debra Cockel, sisters, Jazzma Denna Eleazer of Newberry, SC, Alisha Diane Coleman of Virginia Beach, VA, Candie Nichole Bates of Newberry, SC and LaShundra Syreeta Bates of Greenville, SC; brothers, Pisces Rulandus Bates of Charleston, SC, Adonis Hentz of Newberry, SC and Joseph Wicker of Columbus, OH, grandparents, Carrie Clark and Laura Ruth Cockel, other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Werts Cemetery.  All in attendance are asked to wear a mask or face covering and to practice social distancing.
