Dorothy Jean Davenport

Reverend. Dorothy Jean Davenport, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, November 24, 2020 at Prisma Health Richland Hospital.

Born in Newberry County, she was the daughter of the late George Lyles and the late Jerry Lee Baxter.  She was a member of Metropolitan Baptist Church. Reverend Davenport was the 1st female preacher in Newberry County.

Reverend Davenport was predeceased by her husband, Robert Davenport; son, Roy Lee Dean; brothers, T. J. Dean, Johnnie Knight, Colie Dean and Jessie Dean.

Surviving are sisters, Reverend Barbara Arrington and Annie Belle Boyd; brothers, Wilson Brown of Newberry and Bobby Dean of New York; two grandchildren, Terry Davenport and Brandon Davenport; five great-grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Georgia Dean; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be Saturday, December 5, 2020 from 1:30 - 3:00 followed by a drive up service at Pratt Funeral Home.  All in attendance are asked to wear a face mask or face covering and to practice social distancing.
