Daphne Juanita (Chaplin) Gary

Mrs. Daphne Juanita Gary, age 63, affectionately known as "Fruit Cake" passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at her home.

She was born August 6, 1957 in Newberry, South Carolina to the late J. P. Chaplin and the late Mamie Lee Chaplin.  She was a member of Mt. Olive AME Church-Kinards.  She was a graduate of Newberry High School and retired from Amicks Farms.

Surviving are her husband, Melvin Eugene Gary; sons, Marcus Chaplin (Serena) of Inman, SC, Gene Gary (Taquila) of Powder Springs, GA, Samuel Ray Chaplin of Newberry, SC; sisters, Jannie White (Ben Suber) Mamie Chaplin Lindsey (Jimmie Lee) of Newberry, SC, Susie Sewell (Ray) of Newport News, VA, Margaret Chaplin of Whitmire, SC, grandchildren, Myjere Chaplin, Honesty Britton and Gabriel Bethea, four sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Mt. Olive AME Church in Kinards, SC.  All in attendance are asked to wear a mask or face covering and to practice social distancing.  Viewing will be on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
