Clara (Byrd) Thompson

Mrs. Clara Byrd Thompson was born May 8, 1962 in Newberry, South Carolina to Virginia R. Byrd and the late Dennis Byrd, Sr.  She passed away on Sunday, April 17, 2022 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Thompson was a member of Mt. Olive A. M. E. Church-Kinards where she was the Church Secretary, a Trustee, Class Leader and a member of the Women Missionary Society.  She was a graduate of Newberry High School and Piedmont Technical College.  Mrs. Thompson was employed as a Home Health Nurse.

Mrs. Thompson is survived by her husband, Aaron Thompson, Sr.; children, Jimmice Good, Claresha Good and Aaron Thompson, Jr., step-daughters, Denise Thompson, Erin Boyd, and Luvenia Thompson; adopted daughters, Jameelah Davis and Hesper Sanders; siblings, Dennis Byrd, Jr. (Renay), Virginia Byrd (Elbert Aull), Freddie Byrd (Donna Bookman), Derone Byrd, Anthony Byrd (Gail), Rodney Byrd, Delores Byrd (Alonzo Pearson), Ronnie Byrd, and Joseph Byrd (Precious); eleven beloved grandchildren, three sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, two aunts and one uncle.  She was loved by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Olive AME Church-Kinards.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Public viewing will be on Friday, April 22, 2022 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Fred B. Memorial Chapel.  A mask is required to enter the funeral home.
