Charles Edward Sims, Jr.

Mr. Charles E. Sims, Jr., age 75, son of the late Charles E. Sims, Sr. and the late Viola Chick Sims, was born in Newberry County on October 17, 1945 and entered into Eternal Rest on Sunday, October 18, 2020.

He was a longtime member of Fellowship Baptist Church, then later attended Bethlehem Baptist Church under watch care.  Mr. Sims was a Vietnam veteran, a member of VFW Post #5934 and Meridian Lodge #9.

Mr. Sims was predeceased by a son, Elliott Sims.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving high school sweetheart and wife of 55 years, Mary
Alice Sims; son, Charles E. Sims, III of Newberry, SC; daughters, Alicia Renee' Wallace (Bobby Joe) of Newberry, SC; Sylvia Hampton (George, III) of Philadelphia, PA; eight grandchildren including Shavis Sims and Charlesa Sims who were reared in the home; eighteen grandchildren including London Wicker and Jaquavis Fowler who were reared in the home; brothers, James Sims and Thorton Lee Sims; God children, Dr. Robert Williams and family of St. Petersburg, FL. and Philip Hill of Atlanta, GA., six aunts, one uncle, five sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will truly miss him.

Graveside services will be conducted on Thursday, October 22, 2020 at 12 Noon at Newberry Memorial Gardens.  All in attendance are asked to wear a mask or face covering and to practice social distancing.
