Carolyn Joyce (Stalley) Gatling

Funeral services for Mrs. Carloyn Joyce Stalley Gatling, age 70, will be conducted on Thursday, March 19, 2020 at 11:00 AM at Pratt Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.

Carolyn was born October 16, 1949 in New York City to the late Elliot Sr. & Amilita (Amy) Stalley.  Carolyn was the fourth (4^th) of five (5) children born to Amy. On March 11^th, 2020 Carolyn succumbed to her health ailments and left this world from Lexington Medical Center. 

Carolyn attended Norman Thomas High School in New York City. She later gave birth to her only child Dawn Coleta.  Shortly after the birth of her daughter her mother passed away.  Carolyn continued her development while working as a New York City Meter maid.  She later developed a passion for Hair Design and attended Wilfred Academy Cosmetology school.  Soon thereafter, her passions changed again, this time her affinity grew for the medical field.  Carolyn trained and began her new career as a Medical Aid at New York City College of Podiatry. Carolyn worked in this field for some years until she later met Harry Gatling. They moved to South Carolina and married.  Carolyn and Harry later separated and went on to live their separate lives.  Carolyn stayed and made South Carolina her home.

Later, she continued her work as a Medical Aid working with the elderly until she began to have health challenges of her own that would force her to retire early.

Carolyn has joined her ancestors, her parents and two (2) brothers Claude and Elliot (Javaka) that have prepared a place for her.

Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory, her daughter Dawn, her eldest sister Elizabeth and youngest brother Joseph; two (2) Grandsons Leon and Mustaf; one (1) Great-granddaughter Nazare and One (1) Great-grandson Khaliq; One (1) Niece Kimberly, Two (2) nephews Claude Jr. and Kenneth; a host of grand nieces and grand nephews and friendships in all walks of life.
