Bessie Mae (Bookman) Chandler-Williamson

Mrs. Bessie Mae Bookman Chandler-Williamson, age 74, passed away on Wednesday, April  28, 2021.

She was born in Prosperity, South Carolina, to the late Lemuel Bookman and the late Janet Lindsay Bookman.  She was a member of Mt. Moriah A. M. E. Church.

Mrs. Williamson was predeceased by her husband, James Chandler, daughter, Teresa Chandler, sister, Myrtle Holman, brothers, Fred Bookman, Lemuel Bookman and Reverend Larry Bookman.

Surviving are daughters, Patsy Chandler and Mary Jane Chandler both of Newberry, SC; Lisa Boyd (Mark) and Juanita Chandler of Columbia, SC; sons, James Chandler (Victoria) of Irmo, SC, Benjamin Chandler of Columbia, SC; sisters, Dorothy Mae Wheeler, Annette Abney, Mary Hair and Betty Wilson all of Prosperity, SC; brother, James Bookman (Ada) of Newberry, SC; twelve grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, special friend, Robert Watts; sister-in-law, Reverend Tina Bookman, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A graveside service will be conducted on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at 4:00 PM at Newberry Memorial Gardens.  All in attendance are asked to wear a mask or face covering and to practice social distancing.
