Mrs. Bernice M. Sligh was born April 25, 1923 in Newberry, South Carolina to the late Charles Metts and the late Daisy Perry Metts. She entered into Eternal Rest on Friday, November 19, 2021 at White Oak Manor of Newberry.
Mrs. Sligh was a faithful member of Welch Zion Baptist Church where she was the Mother of the Church and an usher for a number of years. She was also a member of Women's Home Aid Society. Mrs. Sligh worked as a cook in Newberry County Schools for several years and Johnny Jones Donut. She attended Newberry County Schools
Mrs. Sligh was known for her smiling and cheerful pleasant ways. She had a heart that won so many friends. She was also know for wearing her beautiful hats.
Mrs. Sligh was predeceased her husband. A. W. Sligh, four sons, Otis, Charles, Eugene and Willie Sligh, granddaughter, Bennie Mae Summers.
Mrs. Sligh is survived by her devoted daughter, Daisy Mae Washington and her husband, Larry; four grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren, special nephews, Harry and Larry Werts, God son, Robert Bernard Davidson, special friends and adopted daughters, Martha Thomas and Janet Glenn, a host of nieces and nephews, other family members and friends.
Funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Pratt Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Welch Zion Baptist Church. All in attendance are asked to wear a mask or face covering and to practice social distancing.
