Columbia, S.C.- Bennie Lee Sims Jr., age 75, died September 24, 2021 at Wm. Jennings Bryan Dorn VA Medical Center.
Bennie is a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he earned several medals. He was born August 3, 1946 in Pomaria, S.C., and spent most of his life in Newberry, S.C.
He was predeceased by his mother, Lousie Rikard Sims, father, Bennie L. Sims,
Sr., daughter, Arenda Sims, son, Scottie Sims, sister, Barbara Brown, and brother, Thomas Eichelberger.
Mr. Bennie Sims Jr. is survived by one daughter, Linda Sims Johnson, two sons, Tyrone Sims and Stephen Sims; two children reared in the home Krystal Frazier (Christopher) and Paula Caldwell (Rusty), two sisters, Ruby Renwick and Essie Stephens, one brother, Larry Sims (Betty), a devoted friend and caregiver Mary Sims. He also left behind 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. Bennie will be sorely missed by family and friends.
Burial celebration will be held at Fort Jackson National Cemetery Columbia, S.C. September 30, 2021 at 11:00am.
