Bennie Davenport, Jr.

Mr. Bennie L. Davenport, Jr. was born in Newberry, South Carolina on October 3, 1950 to the late Bennie L. Davenport, Sr. and the late Lizell Scurry-Davenport.  He passed away on Saturday, November 20, 2021.

He was a graduate of Gallman High School and a retired truck driver.  Mr. Davenport was a United States Marine veteran.

Mr. Davenport was predeceased by brothers, David Davenport, Jesse Davenport, Richard Davenport and Billy Davenport.

Mr. Davenport is survived by his children, Rochelle L. Davenport, Shameka K. Davenport, Brandi L. Davenport, Bennie Davenport, III and Antonio B. Griffin, brothers, Randall Davenport (Tassie Mae Hiller) and Robert Davenport (Renae); sister, Lizzie Davenport; aunts, Mamie L. Hall and Azalean Jones; uncle, Johnny Mack Scurry (Mary); devoted companion, Joann Suber; devoted friends, Rick and Robin Cofer, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 1, 2021 at 12:00 PM at Fort Jackson National Cemetery with Military Honors.  All in attendance are asked to wear a mask or face covering and to practice social distancing.
