Mrs. Annie Mae (Turner) Stuart, known as "Aunt Mae" by her family, was born on July 24, 1924, in Newberry, South Carolina to the late George W. Turner and the late Sallie E. Clark Turner. She entered into Eternal Rest on Monday, September 25, 2023, at her home.
Mrs. Stuart left South Carolina at an early age and resided in Washington, DC for many years. Due to her declining health, she relocated to South Carolina in 2021.
While in DC, Mrs. Stuart was employed by the Rocca family who loved her dearly.
Throughout the years Aunt Mae and Uncle Dave opened up their home to a host of family members and friends. She was known for her wonderful culinary skills. She always had plenty and made everyone welcome and feel at home. If there was a recipe you had a question about, Aunt Mae was the person to call.
Mrs. Stuart was predeceased by her husband, Dave Stuart, brothers, James, John, George and Booker T. Turner, and sisters, Lucinda Aughtry, Gracie Lou Saulter and Fannie Mae Goggans.
Mrs. Stuart is survived by her step-daughter, Dolly (Milton) Smith, sister, Emma Lee Turner, devoted nieces, Sarah Alexander and Carol Walker, devoted lifetime friend, Connie Johnson, cousin, Ervin Glasgow,devoted caregivers, Beverly Dominick, Temeka Trappier, Demetria Davis, Dorothy Brown and MSA Hospice, along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, October 2, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens. Public viewing will be held on Sunday, October 1, 2023 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel.
