Adele Toland

Funeral services for Ms. Adele Toland, age 90, will be conducted on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Renwick Grove Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Ms. Toland passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2020 at her home.  Born in Newberry, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Jefferson Toland, Sr. and the late Martha Gary Toland.

She was a dedicated member of Renwick Grove Baptist Church where she was the former Church Clerk/Secretary, a member of the Usher Board Choir and Missionary Society.  Ms. Toland was also a member of Satterwhite-Brown Chapter of Eastern Star #26 and Women's Home Aid Society.  She was a volunteer for Newberry Manna House. Ms. Toland was a graduate of Drayton Street School in Newberry, SC and furthered her education at Benedict College in Columbia, SC and completed graduate work from the University of South Carolina.  She was a retired educator spending thirty plus years teaching at Reuben School in Silvertrett, SC, Carver Elementary in Whitmire, SC and in Burke County, Waynesboro, GA.

Ms. Toland was predeceased by sisters, Parilee Toland Turner and Virginia Toland; brothers, Fessor and J. D. Toland.

Surviving are one sister, Alenia Toland Sligh of Winston-Salem, NC; brothers, Gary Toland of Newberry, SC and Jefferson Toland, Jr. (Annie) of Winston-Salem, NC; nieces, nephews, sister-in-law, Isabella Toland of Thomasville, NC and other relatives.
